The purpose of this guide is to help you identify ways to gather additional information about potential majors from individuals across campus.

After you have done some research online regarding a potential major, another great way to gather additional insights about a major is to attend an information session or talk with students, advisors, and faculty connected to the major. This "insider" insight can help you determine if the major is a potential fit.

M3-Graduation Planner

Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to familiarize you with the Graduation Planner tool and practice creating Graduation Plans based on your area of interest.

Description

The Graduation Planner (GP) is a dynamic web-based planning tool for University of Minnesota students and their advisers. The goal of GP is to simplify the degree-planning process for students, providing them with clear expectations and allowing for focused and meaningful interaction with advisers.

M4-What-If APAS

Purpose

The purpose of this action guide is to become familiarized with the "What If" APAS (major shopping) and to explore majors with the report.

Description

The APAS (Academic Progress Audit System) shows how your coursework applies to Liberal Education and degree requirements for your declared major. The "What If" APAS report allows you to generate a sample report for any undergraduate major at the U of M so you can see what requirements you may have already met.

M5-Explore Graduate/Professional School

Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to help you explore your graduate or professional school options and begin to set some personal goals.

Description

While you may have a good idea about what you want to do after college, you might still be unsure about which courses, majors, or activities will best enable you to reach your goals. This guide will help you learn more about graduate and professional schools so you can become better prepared for your chosen program or area of graduate study while you are in still in college.

M6-High Demand Majors - Major Action Guide

Purpose:

The purpose of the Action Guide is to help you evaluate the probability of being successfully admitted to a high-demand major. By working through this Action Guide, you will be able to compare your own subjective beliefs about your qualifications with the objective information you have gained about a program and its admissions statistics.
